Homework
Homework is work that is set to be done outside the timetabled curriculum. It includes an element of independent study. Homework is important in raising student achievement.
Not all homework is done at home; in fact, for some students who find it hard to work at home, or for some tasks which may require resources (books, software, equipment) more readily available at school, it is necessary or desirable to carry out the task at school, which as an academy we fully support and enable.
Furthermore, homework enhances student learning, improves achievement and develops students' study skills and as such is an integral part of the curriculum; it is especially important, therefore in preparing students for examinations and assessments.
At Key Stage 3, students have knowledge organisers which are frequently use to support student homework. Tasks or learning may be set based on these knowledge organisers.

In mathematics, we also use a program called SPARX maths to support the practice of key skills. Students will be provided with the appropriate log-in information from their maths teacher. Key information about homework will be shared with students in lesson and via class-charts.
If you have any questions regarding homework, please get in touch with your child’s subject teacher via email.
